Curriculum Vitae
Research Interests
My primary areas of interest are in the analytic philosophy of art, social and political philosophy and 18th and 19th century German philosophy.
Within the philosophy of art I am particularly interested in the cross-cultural application of aesthetic theories to Iran. Within social and political philosophy I am primarily interested in globalization and global justice, with emphasis on the Middle East. From a historical perspective, I am interested in 18th and 19th century German thought on aesthetics, ethics, and idealism.
I am currently conducting long term research into considerations for Western analytic philosophy that are entailed from its application to contemporary Iranian art. In this respect I am particularly interested in issues such as authenticity, censorship, cross-cultural meaning, and the impact of public policy and social trends on the development of art. My current historically-directed research (stemming from my consortium study at the University of Pennsylvania) focuses on responses to Kant's ethical theory in 19th century British idealism.
